3M™ Cold Shrink Insulation Tubing 8420 and 8430 are EPDM tubing that is a unique cold shrink connection system. The products are supplied pre-stretched on a retractable support coil, allowing efficient and easy assembly. When the support coil is pulled out after the tubing is positioned, the tubing shrinks to form a watertight seal. The active deformation of the specially formulated material ensures a permanent seal and insulation from the environment.3M™ Cold Shrink Insulation Tubing Series 8420 and 8430 are especially useful for electrical insulation on all solid dielectric (rubber or plastic) insulated wires and cable splices up to 1,000 V. They are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. They often provide good physical protection and environmental shielding for communication lines and other non-electrical applications (including cable jacket repairs). The temperature range is -40 °C to 90 °C. In applications where the product is continuously exposed to UV radiation, it should be wrapped with, for example, Scotch® Super 33+™ Vinyl Insulation Tape or Scotch® Self-Vulcanizing Silicone Rubber Tape 70.
