The AS-i system is characterized by its special profile cable. The cable connects all binary sensors, analog sensors and actuators in the network to a master system. The system can consist of safety slaves and standard slaves. The components developed for the AS-i bus system can be connected to the network wherever they are needed. The required function is then selected in the control system. The AS-i cable can be connected to the safety components directly or via the Urax adaptation module. Some components have an integrated AS-i node and are connected directly to the yellow AS-i cable via an M12 connector via the flat cable connection. Conventional products without an integrated AS-i node must be connected via the Urax safety node.
