An emergency stop button must stop the machine as quickly as possible. To achieve a quick stop, you either switch off the power directly, or you let a frequency converter shut down and then switch off the power with a small delay. An emergency stop button must not trigger any other hazards. Emergency stop buttons reach up to PL e/Cat. 4 according to EN ISO 13849-1. Many models have an LED display on the button.
