Function: Installation contactors are electromechanical switching devices that are controlled with a relatively low current consumption. They can be used to switch consumers with a low current consumption in 1-phase or with a high current consumption in 3-phase distributions. Applications: For switching circuits such as lighting and heating systems or electric motors, e.g. fans and pumps. Installation contactors are used in night-time power systems, among other things, to operate consumers with a high current consumption, such as electric boilers or night storage heaters, only at the cheaper night-time rates. With an operating mode selector switch, the night-time power system can be switched to ON, OFF or AUTOMATIC OPERATION at any time. Properties: With the exception of the 20A version, all installation contactors have direct current coils. This makes the switching devices absolutely silent, i.e. there is no 50Hz hum during operation. They have a rectifier and can therefore be operated with either direct or alternating current. In addition, an integrated varistor protects the device against overvoltages from the mains or lightning strikes up to max. 5kV. The installation contactors have a switch position indicator and the connection terminals, which are designed to IP20 protection, are equipped with captive Pozidriv 1 or 2 screws. The program is completed by additional auxiliary contacts, spacers and locking units.
