The D-Link DXS-3600 Series of 10 Gigabit Stackable1 Managed Top-of-Rack Switches are compact, high-performance devices with 10 Gigabit Ethernet switching, routing, and low latency. With a height of 1U and front-to-back airflow, the DXS-3600 Series is ideal for top-of-rack deployments in data centers and aggregation networks in enterprise and campus environments. The DXS-3600 Series consists of 24-port and 8-port SFP+ 10 Gigabit switches with one expansion slot. The optional expansion modules offer additional 10 Gigabit SFP+ ports, 120G stacking1 and 10GBASE-T or 1000BASE-T connectivity for various applications.
Convenient deployment
The DXS-3600 series switches offer high-performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet switching with up to 960/480 Gbit/s and forwarding rates of 714/357 Mbps. Hot-swappable power supplies and fans ensure redundancy and high availability. In addition to redundancy, load distribution between the power supplies also extends their service life. The modular fan design enables 2+1 redundancy. If a fan fails or the temperature rises, the temperature-controlled fans increase their speed accordingly to ensure uninterrupted operation.
Flexible software
The DXS-3600 series can be deployed with two different software images: The Standard Image (SI) has a variety of functions for Layer 2, VLAN, multicasting, Quality of Service (QoS), security, data centers and static routing. The Enhanced Image (EI) offers comprehensive IPv4/IPv6 routing with RIP, VRRP, OSPF, BGP as well as L3 multicasting functions such as IGMP, MLD, PIM-DM, SM, SDM, SSM and DVMR. The Enhanced Image also supports L2/L3 MPLS VPN. The DXS-3600 series switches can therefore be used as the core router of a corporate network or as an aggregation switch in an MPLS environment.
Functions for data centers
Data Center Bridging (DCB) is an essential extension of Ethernet for data centers. The DXS-3600 series switches support various core components of Data Center Bridging such as IEEE 802.1Qbb, IEEE 802.1Qaz and IEEE 802.1Qau. These prevent data loss due to network blocking, manage bandwidth allocation and provide blocking management. The DXS-3600 series switches also support cut-through switching to reduce network latency.
Energy efficiency
The DXS-3600 series switches can adjust air circulation using various power supplies and fan modules. The airflow from front to back improves air circulation and ensures effective cooling in rack systems in the data center. The switches are equipped with temperature-controlled fans. Internal thermal sensors monitor the temperature and detect changes to which the fans respond with adjusted speeds. At low temperatures, the speed is reduced, which reduces power consumption and noise.
