Catch tip including two seam clamps (clamping range 0.7-8 mm), for example to protect PV open-space systems or carports with PV systems from direct lightning strikes. The catch tip is attached with simultaneous lightning current-carrying contact via the two seam clamps, e.g. to the metal substructure of the PV modules. When mounting on the substructure, a distance of 15-20 cm between the two seam clamps and a free length of 80-85 cm must be taken into account. If installed correctly, the mechanical strength and a lightning current carrying capacity of 100 kA (10/350 s) are ensured.
