A base load is used when consumers cannot be detected due to their capacity, but are intended to cause the mains voltage to be switched on. Base loads must always be operated in parallel with the associated consumer and switched off with the same. Higher standby loads can impair or prevent the detection of a base load. Examples of this: fluorescent lamps, dimmer circuits and electronic transformers. Base load element GLE PTC in a small sleeve with connecting cables, can be used directly in a consumer, a switch or a junction box. It is not able to keep the mains disconnector switched on without an additional consumer.
