Overload and short circuits in one or more branches are reliably detected. The electronics allow short-term current peaks, e.g. due to high inrush current, and switches branches with longer overloads off. This is ensured even on high-impedance lines and in the case of creeping short circuits. The intact branches are supplied with 24 V with absolutely no interruption or reaction, thus minimizing system downtimes. The faulty branch is signaled via LEDs on the device as well as via a common signaling contact or diagnostic monitor.
